Ascension Cathedral

The construction of the Turkestan Cathedral in Pushkin Park was begun in 1904 under the Bishop of Turkestan and Tashkent Paisii (Vinogradov). The Cathedral was designed by local architects: Konstantin Abramovich Boris and Sergey Konstantinovich Troparevski. General supervision of the construction was carried out by the regional engineer Andrei Pavlovich Zenkov. Ascension Cathedral in Almaty is built in 1907. The Cathedral has three altars: the Central consecrated in memory of the feast of the ascension, South of the Annunciation, and North of Faith, Hope and charity and their mother Sophia, considered the patrons of Semirechye.
